Homecoming music, parade awards given

Mike Fulton of Norfolk was the recipient of the Band Alumni Award that is presented each homecoming at Chadron State College to the outstanding senior in the band as selected by the band members.

Fulton, who plays the tuba, also is an outstanding singer who is a member of the choir and select vocal groups.

The Rapid City Stevens band was selected as the outstanding band in the CSC homecoming parade. The Chadron and Gordon bands also received superior ratings while the Garden County Elementary and Junior High band and the Valentine Middle School band received excellent honors.

The Gordon band received the top inspection score.

The International Club received the top prize in the float division of the parade for its covered wagon. Runner-up honors went to the Omega Phi Rho Fraternity, which featured large Western hats. Third place was a tie between the entries from the CSC Admissions Ambassadors and the Pine Ridge Job Corps Center.

There were 26 entries in the parade competition.
